Item No JS 02 is a HUGE No--Dachi.. aka "Field Sword".. This is a monster of a sword and I mean it is a real beast of a blade. I have no idea as to what I was thinking when I made this really..I just wanted a sword that was along the lines of the sword used by Kikuchyo in "The Seven Samurai".. This is the largest sword I have ever made. I will not be making another one this size.. This was the last sword I made when we were still in Nevada..
The blade length is 44 3/4" and it is in the Shinogi-Zukuri blade style with one (1) full length Bo-Hi on each side.

The Hamon is quite lively and shows a great deal of "frost".. It took me a rather respectable amount of time to polish this sword. along with a whole bunch of butterfly sutures and bandages.. WARNING this blade is SHARP and being so very long...be very careful when handling it.

The tsuka is wood with natural tiger ray same-gawa under red slik ito wrapped in my modified 'battle wrap" style and it is 19 1/2" in length and secured by two (2) mekugi.

The tsuka and menuki are done in a bat theme.., patina'd bronze with gold and silver leaf details.

The natural tiger ray skin is very attractive to the eye. It is seldom seen and it is quite uncommon.. well worth the additional costs..

This photo will give you a basic idea as to how large this sword is ... I am 6 foot 2 inches tall.. This is a true monster sword! (The grumpy old bastard shown in the photo is not included)

The siya is wood with black lacquer under red cracked lacquer. It is sealed with 6 coats of clear lacquer.

With an overall length of 65 3/4" this is truly a behemoth of a sword. I hate to see it go but needs are pressing..
